McElroy Excellence in Education Enrichment Grant

The purpose of the McElroy Excellence in Education Enrichment Grant is to provide funding for classroom teachers to develop innovative, educational experiences for their students in their current school year. These projects must be an integral part of your current curriculum as well as demonstrate excellence in education. 

This funding is provided by the McElroy Trust as part of the Excellence in Education Grants Program. The McElroy Trust has identified the following eligible Central Rivers AEA districts (this includes all accredited non-public institutions within these district boundaries):

  • Aplington-Parkersburg
  • Cedar Falls
  • Clarksville
  • Denver
  • Dike-New Hartford
  • Dunkerton
  • East Buchanan
  • Gladbrook-Reinbeck
  • Grundy Center
  • Hudson
  • Independence
  • Janesville
  • Jesup
  • Nashua-Plainfield
  • North Butler
  • North Tama
  • Sumner-Fredericksburg
  • Tripoli
  • Union
  • Wapsie Valley
  • Waterloo
  • Waverly-Shell Rock
  • Central Rivers AEA special programs (North Iowa Juvenile Detention Services and River Hills School)

Grants will be awarded from $100-$3,000 which is selected by a committee of Educational as well as community leaders.

Either an individual teacher or a team of teachers may submit a grant. No teacher may be involved in more than one grant for the 2024-2025 school year. To be eligible, a teacher must hold a current teaching license and must be teaching in one of the school districts listed above (including non-public institutions) that is Department of Education accredited.

The application process will close on Friday, December 6th at 4:00 pm. Interested applicants should use the online application platform.
