Summary
Looking to expand your substitute teacher pool? AEAs are offering virtual certification courses open to anyone with an Associate’s Degree or 60 college credits – making it easier than ever to get certified and ready to step into the classroom!
Looking to grow your pool of substitute teachers? Here’s a great opportunity!
Anyone with an Associate’s Degree or at least 60 college credits can become a substitute teacher. Subs can work up to ten consecutive days in the same classroom (though they can’t fill open, permanent positions). Paraeducators with certification can also substitute in their assigned classroom.
Area Education Agencies (AEAs) offer virtual courses for substitute teacher certification, which means participants can attend from anywhere, on their own schedule.
A regularly updated list of all sessions across the state makes it easy to find a course that fits—anyone can sign up, no matter where they’re located! Cost: $100 (self-paced is $150)
Starting dates for the upcoming sessions:
- November 11 – Green Hills AEA
- November 25 – Central Rivers AEA
- December 9 – Heartland AEA
- December 16 – Green Hills AEA
- January 6 – Central Rivers AEA
