Summary

The CRAEA literacy team is offering several learning opportunities, including courses on intensive literacy instruction for struggling readers, revised literacy standards, personalized reading plans and a Dyslexia Symposium.

The Central Rivers AEA literacy team has designed the following opportunities to meet your needs.

Elementary Intensive Literacy Instruction for Struggling Readers: This course is for teachers working with students in Tier 3 intervention who read at or below a 3rd-grade level. It focuses on helping educators deliver targeted instruction in phonological awareness and phonics using structured, step-by-step methods based on the Orton-Gillingham approach.

Navigating the Revised Literacy Standards: This workshop offers educators a thorough overview of the revised Iowa Academic Standards for English Language Arts and Literacy, highlighting key changes, grade-level progression, and essential instructional shifts. It will address the needs and challenges specific to various grade levels.

Mastering Personalized Reading Plans: Essential Insights For Your District: This half-day workshop covers HF 2618’s new mandate for personalized reading plans for K-6 students needing extra support. Learn about the plan’s components, effective implementation, and how CRAEA can assist in enhancing and streamlining these plans for student success.

Dyslexia Symposium: Participants will engage in a dyslexia simulation, learn basic information about dyslexia as well as strategies on how to support students with dyslexia.
